Renee Hanna - Artist Director
Renee graduated with an AFA from Young Harris College and a BA with an emphasis on Theatre Education from Brenau University. Renee has traveled the world, taking theatre classes and exploring different types of theatre. After watching a breathtaking performance in a small Czechoslovakian theatre in 1983, Renee knew theatre would be her life’s passion.
Renee began her professional acting career in 1984 at Flat Rock Playhouse in N.C., working with Equity Actors/Directors. Since that time, Renee has become a professional children’s theatre director, a teacher, and a storyteller for over 25 years.
A few past professional accomplishments have been Brenau University’s Award of Theatre Excellence for a project called Social Interaction Theatre (a theatre class that teaches social cues/interactions for children on the spectrum), the All-Star Award for Annie Jr at Access Broadway, Best Musical Direction at Junior Theatre Festival for School House Rock JR, and the Judges Choice Award for Best Direction at the National Performing Arts Festival for Once On This Island JR.
Renee feels beyond blessed to create On the Stage Children’s Theatre, where children will be able to be part of an ensemble performance group that encourages artistic growth, and where everyone is welcome.
