Bray Gailey is a senior at Kennesaw State University, majoring in Theatre & Performance Studies with a concentration in Musical Theatre. Bray's journey as a Music Director began during their senior year of high school, and their love for the role has only deepened over time. Working alongside Atlanta-based Music Directors like Holt McCarley, John-Michael D'Haviland, and Amanda Wansa-Morgan, Bray's passion for creating art through musical theatre has flourished. Bray is committed to teaching students to be proud of their work and encouraging them to tap into their creative potential. Bray strives to ensure that every young performer feels valued and empowered, fostering a lifelong love of music and the arts.
Growing up in the Sugar Hill community, Bray was an active participant in school chorus programs starting in 4th grade at Sugar Hill Elementary and continuing through their senior year at Lanier High School. It was in the Lanier Middle School drama club that Bray began to explore the world of theatre. These Fine Arts programs helped Bray find their voice, confidence, and lifelong passion.
Bray fell in love with music and its many dimensions. Their curiosity about how music is constructed led them to explore various aspects of voice and music theory, including piano techniques, vocal pedagogy, melodic dictation, and especially chord theory. Bray draws musical inspiration from artists such as Chet Baker, Jacob Collier, and composer Stephen Sondheim. Over time, Bray's love of writing, theatrical storytelling, and music began converging to lead them to a new world of musical composition and playwriting.
